If you have opt-in verification enabled on your account (meaning you require new contacts to verify their opt-in status through an opt-in trigger email) you have the option of creating your own custom opt-in trigger email.
How to create a custom opt-in email
To create your opt-in email, hover over ‘Automation’ on the navigation bar and select ‘Trigger Campaign’ from the dropdown.
Then, click ‘Create Campaign‘ in the top right corner.
This takes you into the ‘Trigger Campaign Detail’ page, where you are asked for some basic information.
When you're done, click ‘Save‘ at the bottom of the page to start the 4-step process of building your trigger campaign:
Step 1: Subject
Enter your subject line, from name, and sending address.
Click ‘Save & Continue‘ at the bottom of the page to move onto the next step.
Step 2: Design
Choose a layout for your opt-in email design.
Click on the tick under the layout you choose to open the email editor.
You can then customise your email design with different content blocks.
How to add an opt-in confirm link to your email
In the drag-and-drop editor, you can add an opt-in link in two ways:
- A text link
- A button link
How to add an opt-in confirm link to text:
- Highlight the text you want to link
- From the toolbar, select 'Special links' > 'Links' > 'Opt-in confirm'
How to add an opt-in confirm link to a button:
- Drag a button content block into your email
- Click the button so the 'Content properties' panel appears on the right-hand side of the editor
- Underneath the 'Url' field, select 'Special links'
- Click 'Links' > 'Opt-in confirm'
How to add an opt-in decline link to your email
You can add an opt-in decline link to text or a button in the same ways as above, just select the 'Opt-in decline' link instead of 'Opt-in confirm'.
Once you have finished your opt-in email design, click ‘Save & Continue‘ to move onto the next step.
Step 3: Test
Here you can send a test email so you can preview your email in the inbox before you send.
When you’re happy, click ‘Save & Continue‘ to move on to the final step.
Step 4: Confirm & Activate
At this final stage, you will see a checklist to see if there any changes we suggest making before sending your email.
Once everything is completed, click ‘Confirm & Activate‘ at the bottom of the page.
You will now be able to use the trigger campaign as a custom opt-in email on your account.
How to add your opt-in trigger campaign to your account
Once you have created and activated your opt-in trigger email, you will need to select the campaign in your opt-in settings.
To do this, navigate to your account settings, and click 'Opt-in Settings' on the left-hand menu.
Please note: You will only see this if you have permissions enabled to access Opt-in Settings.
Under 'Verification email', click on the field next to 'Campaign to send'. This will display a list of your active trigger campaigns. Enter the name of your campaign and select it.
Click 'Save' at the bottom of the page.
Please note: If you try selecting a trigger email that doesn't contain an opt-in confirm link, you will see a warning message asking you to select a campaign that contains an opt-in link.
