Wired Plus Year in Review: 2020

|by Demi-Leigh Donohoe

Well, what a year it's been. Not the one any of us were expecting, and probably one we’ll all be glad to see the back of.

However, whilst there are a lot of things about this year we’d rather forget, there are some things that are worth highlighting.

Throughout the year, brands have relied on email to stay connected with their customers, and we saw marketing teams adapt to new ways of working, new approaches, and changing customer behaviours.

As 2020 (finally) draws to a close, we’re looking back at everything we've achieved and released during the year - none of which would have been possible without you, our clients.

New features and updates

KPI Dashboard

Earlier in the year, we launched our brand new KPI Dashboard - one of our most exciting features yet.

Enabling you to track your progress in real-time, the dashboard enables you to plot your KPIs vs. your actual results, empowering you to refine your strategies and fine-tune your email campaigns.

The dashboard gives you a glance at all your important metrics, such as send performance, campaign engagement, top-performing subject lines, and more.

Updates to Forms

We made several improvements to our Forms feature to make it work better for you.

The updates included a new location for Signup Forms and Unsubscribe Forms and a new listing page for Signup Forms, enabling you to see information against each form.

We also added several new options to the Form Builder including Google’s reCAPTCHA tool, a ‘honeypot’ to filter out spammy contacts, and different language options. Find out more here.

Likert Scale question added to Survey Builder

Likert scales are one of the most reliable ways to measure opinions, perceptions, and beliefs.

Likert scale surveys can be used to gauge customer attitudes and opinions towards a specific subject, product, or company.

This new question type gives you the ability to uncover varied thoughts and opinions, providing you with a deeper understanding of your audience.

New language options

We added a new language toggle to the default pages in the system, such as the Unsubscribe page, the Resubscribe page, the Preference Centre, and the Opt-In Confirmation page.

This gives your subscribers the ability to select their preferred language from English, French, or German. They'll then see key messages in their chosen language when later accessing the default pages. Any automated emails they receive from the system will also be shown in their chosen language.

Updates to folders

The folder functionality in the platform helps you keep your assets organised and easier to find and report on.

We listened to your feedback and took everything on board, and we created a new centralised location where you can easily view, create, edit, and remove your folders.

New permission settings

Clients with multiple users on their account can now set much more granular permissions, ensuring that individual team members are only able to access the information and features that are relevant to them.

New features added to the drag-and-drop editor

We added several new features and updates to the drag-and-drop editor, giving you more control and flexibility when designing emails and landing pages.

Commenting

You can now interact with your team inside the editor while designing your emails and landing pages.

With the Commenting feature, you and your team can streamline collaboration, create campaigns in less time, and reduce the need for back-and-forth conversations on multiple channels.

Reverse Stacking

This is one we know lots of clients will love: the ability to invert the columns' stacking order on mobile.

If your email or landing page layout has alternating content, you can turn on reverse stacking to ensure that, on mobile, images are displayed above their accompanying content.

Flexible Columns

When clicking on a row in your campaign, you will see a widget where you can add, delete, and adjust the widths of columns in real-time.

This means you now have a lot more flexibility when changing the layout of a row, and it only takes seconds! Find out more.

Left-align content in one click

Instead of editing each section of your email design, you can now left-align your email content in one click using the drag-and-drop editor.

Left-aligned emails are standard practice in many use cases, particularly for more personal and conversational emails.

Webinar: Engaging your customers during a crisis

When you're facing situations like the current COVID-19 pandemic, it can be hard to know what to say to your customers - or whether you should say anything at all.

The last thing brands want to do is appear insensitive or like they're taking advantage of the situation in any way. As a result, some companies might consider cutting their marketing budget, or putting their campaigns on hold altogether. However, this is a mistake. Keeping in touch with customers now is more important than ever - but how can you make sure you get it right?

Earlier in the year, we teamed up with our friends from WMG to share the dos and don'ts for communicating with your audience in uncertain times, along with some of our favourite examples of brands that have mastered the art of personal and empathetic marketing.

A brand new website & Knowledge Base

This year also saw the launch of our newly designed website, blog, and Knowledge Base

The new WiredPlus.com has a bold, clean, and fresh design. But above all, it gives you a much more enjoyable experience.

What's in store for 2021?

We've already started working on some exciting updates that we'll be launching at the beginning of 2021. Make sure to keep an eye on your emails so you don't miss anything, but until then, here's a little preview...

  • We'll be expanding our API endpoints, making it more flexible for future integrations;
  • We'll be making some upgrades to our server infrastructure as we continue to grow;
  • We'll be improving opt-in and data signup processes, ensuring you remain GDPR compliant.

We'll be hosting some webinars to discuss some of the updates in detail and give you the chance to ask any questions, so stay tuned for those.

In 2021, our team will be focused on improving our email automation and marketing features that empower you to continue making better marketing decisions.

While we have accomplished a lot this year, we could not have done it without the support of our clients and colleagues.

Thank you for your continued support throughout this year, and we look forward to continuing to help you drive your business forward. Here's to a positive and hopeful 2021!
